How Well Did the Previews Go?

Does anyone have any information on how this film previewed and audience reaction?

I heard that Barbra thought the film would bomb after the first preview and I'm wondering what happened.

Thanks, ebab!

It looks like "Doc" was one of the top moneymakers of the year and had good reviews from the beginning.

Barbra's dismissal of the film is because it's not about anything. Moviegoers may like escapist fare, but Streisand feels her films should not be pointless entertainment.

She may have lost a lot of money by selling off her percentage rights, but the film made her more accessible to a greater audience, many of whom I'm sure are fans to this day.

She doesn't have a whole lot to say on the commentary. I got the sense that she really didn't understand the film too much.

There was only one preview in Denver and then took about 3 minutes off the time after that screening. That's per Bogdanovich on the commentary on the DVD.
