This is painfully good, timeless art.

Having just seen it for the first time, I'm deeply touched by it.

I was fond of the Sodeberg version, years ago, but never gave this one a chance, untill now.

The theme of loss, denial and hunger for human connection is so beautifully represented. The very long scene of traffic and civilization followed by the sudden cut to nature made me uncontrollably cry, this is one of the best cinematic transitions I've seen- right up there with the match/sunlight transition in "Lawrence Of Arabia" or the time leap transition in "2001 Space Oddyssey".

This is science-fiction on the surface, with so much more under it. And it influenced so many movies after it, I hope Tarkovski was aware of what a great legacy he was leaving behind.

Painfuly boring time-killer while nothing to show but a close up. A direct insult to viewer patience. Longest waste of time waiting for something next... nope! Its all bunch of ppl in same scenes background. with their slow motion moves... pathetic waste of viewer time. You may even lose the plot in some point, as slow it is!

i thought that the premise was extremely fascinating, the execution was great but i felt it could have been better to elevate it to a masterpiece level, there was something missing which i can't explain

it's not quite a masterpiece for me although it's close so 8/10 for me

so many movies, so little time
