Timeless Story

No pun intended.

I remember seeing this film when I was a teenager and being totally lost. I then saw it again later in life and "got it". My daughter read the book in high school just a couple of years ago and, being far more "in tune" than I was at her age, took right to it. We now enjoy discussing our views on it. I thank both the film makers and Mr. Vonnegut for giving me a very interesting subject to discuss from time to time with my daughter. A nice bridge to the "Generation Gap".

The first time I saw this film was in the early/mid 70's. I loved it then, probably because it was so trippy, and it fit what my friends and I were doing at the time. I hadn't seen it in over 40 years, and wondered if I would still like it. The truth it, I like it even more now. And ironically, I still remembered a lot of the scenes, even though it had been over 4 decades since I'd seen it. THAT'S staying power. The film it reminds me the most of, which is also a comment/critique of war, is "King of Hearts", which came out 6 years before this film. That's my all time favorite film. This is second.
