Just another 'investigator'-horr or? Or...

Thoug I`m not a big fan of giallos, I find this movie pretty tempting to check out. The storyline about pedophilia and the critism about catholism interest me, but does this movie focus much on these two things, or does it focus most on a journalist/reporter with a trimmed beard and parrot-hair trying to play investigator? I wont watch it if its too Hercule Poirot-esque.

It's one of Fulci's best. I don't know what that means to you, but to a Eurohorror and giallo fan, it goes the length. Barbara Bouchet pretty much should be your sole reason to check this out even if you dislike this sort of film. Personally, I thought it was decent and has you guessing for at least half the movie as to what is actually going on.

Well, having a fascination of taboo-contents like necrophilia, pedophilia (please dont misunderstand) and religious fanatism, I wonder if this movie focuses much on those aspects or it just focuses most on the main character trying to solve a mystery like a TV-detective story.

It doesn't focus on necrophilia or paedophilia, BUT the serial killer targets young boys and a couple of the main characters fall into the suspect pool. The murdering of kids is a major cinematic taboo. It sets it apart from most crime/thriller/giallo movies. Another movie with a similar theme/plot was What Have They Done To Solange? (directed by Massimo Dallamano, who was Leone's cinematographer in his Man With No Name trilogy). That one's pretty good too, but this one is better.
