I can't but notice a similar trait in the plot of the two movies, both feature some crazy priest who is killing teenagers in order to prevent the sins of puberty.. Being both from the same year, I wonder if there has been any link between the two movies, maybe they share a common source of inspiration? Does anybody know?
Anyway, Fulci's version of the idea is far better than Lado's..
yeah i hate to say this but who saw her die sucked for me. from the music, to the plot, the characters, just didn't click with me at all. i wasn't scared or in suspense at all. don't torture a duckling, on the other hand, was brutally horrific and was one of the most disturbing movies i have ever seen. by the way, i really do like aldo lado, just not who saw her die. i thought short night of the glass dolls was amazing actually.
Considering that both movies are Italian giallos, I'd say one was directly 'inspired' by the other. That was usually the case, i think... if not, then both film-makers simply had the same idea at the same time. I really like Who Saw Her Die, but Don't Torture A Duckling is ultimately more effective. Short Night Of Glass Dolls is great stuff, but my fave Lado movie so far is Night Train Murders!!!
Who knows? Maybe they just happened to have the same ideas. Lado's directing style reminds a lot of Fulci anyway.

While fulci's film is better, I don't think Lado copied Fulci's film as Fulci's film was released the 29th of September 1972. Lado's film just couldn't have been scrapped together and released within a timeframe of two months (it was released the same year). Fulci certainly didn't rip off Lado because he had an axe to grind with his message. I think it's just a coincidence and that both directors, being Atheist in 'the land of the Pope' and all, we're into the same themes.
Actually I find it more plausible that one or both of them ripped off Umberto Lenzi's SEVEN BLOODSTAINED ORCHIDS which was a minor hit at the time and was released the 24th of february of 1972.
