What came first - this or 'Who saw her die?' ?

Two films released in 1972 - Fulci's 'Don't Torture...' and Aldo's 'Who Saw Her Die' , which apart from being very similar in parts to 'Don't Look Now' (directed in 1973 by Nicholas Rogue).

<<<<<<<<<<, So the priest is the killer in both the italian films, where children are also killed. Quite similar, considering they were released in the same year. Who ripped off who?

Didn't Aldo "chicken" out though at the very end by having a character say "He wasn't a real Priest after all!"
Or maybe he was just trying to end it on a light hearted note given the dark elements of the film. ?

I would be interested in knowing which came first too.

SPOILERS BELOW>>>>>>>

Depends how you interpret the line "He wasn't a real Priest after all!" You can take it literally as saying he wasn't a priest or that the character is saying he wasn't a REAL priest because he murdered children. It did seem like a line they tacked on to make it less controversial.

Spoilers.

I liked the fiery priest ending in Who Saw Her Die compared to Fulci's Mannequin mountain tumble. However "Don't Torture" has a better story.

I think that's exactly what happened. Last minute panic.

I know that I'd take this over Who Saw Her Die? any day. I thought that was God-awful.
