This film is deceiving

I just think it's so funny that most people find 'Don't Torture a Duckling' to be a more restrained, professional film than Fulci's later gore epics, because 'Duckling' is actually a pretty extreme film in its own right. The subject matter is unpleasant: The heroine is a pedophile, children are murdered, the killer turns out to be a priest and there is a fairly nasty chain-whipping scene in the middle of the movie.

Personally, I think it's Fulci's absolute best work. A masterpiece.

I have only seen a handful of Lucio Fulci's films, but out of what I've seen, I would have to say this one is my favorite. There is only one gruesome, bloody scene but this film doesn't need any more than that. The story is far too good and well written to rely on gore and violence

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

This will come off as an unpopular opinion, but I liked Murder Rock better. While not as gory, it's as disturbing as the gorier Fulci's films because the way the murders are filmed, and it manages to generate a greater level of tension in my opinion. It kept me at the edge of the chair for almost the whole film. Non si sevizia un paperino was great though, and as you called it, a masterpiece, but it wasn't nearly as intense as Murder Rock.
