Best film of 1972!! Better than 'The Godfather'

Without a shadow of a doubt. And "The Godfather" of course was a great movie.

Connery, Moore, and Brosnan! Accept NO substitutes!

The Mechanic was a great movie. Very entertaining. But, The Godfather?

Uhhhh, no.

I agree with Boogie Nights...

"The Mechanic" is my favorite movie. But "The Godfather" is an epic iconic film and is another favorite of mine. As far as both films showing some of the realities of the underworld I think they are both eye opening .

Nice troll attempt. :-)

The Mechanic is very good, vastly underrated by most who assume it's just "another Charles Bronson flick." It's really pretty special, and holds up well 40 years on, negating the need for a remake, but I digress.

But if you are being even slightly close to serious, it's not even in the Top 5 of 1972. Cabaret, Deliverance, Sounder, Fat City, King of Marvin Gardens, and Sleuth all came out that year, in addition to The Godfather. And that's just scratching the surface.

thanks for listing fat city and marvin gardens! '72 was a great year for film... but, really, godfather was bloated hollywood with one foot in the "new hollywood" and the other in the old. it's okay, but I really don't think it deserves the legendary status it has. fat city and marvin gardens tower over godfather. mechanic maybe is a tie... lol
