Why didn't....? (spoilers)
Franz Joseph make an appearance in this film? Couldn't Karlheinz Bohm reprised the role???
shareI'm guessing because Ludwig's relationship with Franz Joseph wasn't significant enough in the film maker's eyes. Ludwig was far more close to Sissi than with Franz Joseph. Perhaps they could have Karlheinz Bohm to make a very brief appearance at some of the larger "family" gathering type of scenes in the movie, but I guess it just wasn't that important to have the character present there.
