Weird
This horrific, gory, bloody movie with the upbeat Brady Bunch music is funny as hell.
"I've seen better tennis playing in a tampon commercial."

Lol...
This was the era of the "singer-songwriter"... Carole King & James Taylor were all the rage @ the early 70's.
Hell... I liked the movie. It's in the book "101 Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die"... And I happen to thoroughly agree on this one.
Trust me,

My, you're nosey, aren't you?
I think they were trying to keep everyone in the audience from walking out and slitting their wrists because this was a very graphic movie for the time and in the midst of the huge radical new wave of feminism this movie was over the top so they tried to add comic relief..
shareI think everybod makes such a big deal out of the music when it really doesn't amount to much at all. The only super cheerful songs in the movie are the "Weasel, Junior, Sadie, and Krug" song that plays while the gang is riding with the girls in their trunk, and also the songs that play while Mari and Phyllis are getting ice cream and the parents are baking the cake. Other than that, the soundtrack isn't overly happy and the few songs that are don't play while the acts of violence are actually going on. People need to relax about the music. It isn't that problematic.
Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.
The music is pretty memorable.
