I rented it in junior high in the mid-90s and i thought it was one of the sickest movies i've ever experienced in my life, i had a hard time watching it and was feeling sick.

I don't know about the 90s, but in the 70s some people walked out of the theater and one of my friends wanted to leave. One scene that got a strong reaction was the dream scene with the hammer and chisel.
