Most Complete Version on DVD?

Okay, I had the initial MGM DVD release with the blue cover and the two girls running from the house. Then I bought the "Unrated Collector's Edition" with the black cover and the house and the large shot of the girl with a black glove over her mouth that looked like it was taken from some giallo movie.

Now I've become aware there's a third DVD release with a green, illustrated cover of the forest with Mary in the center and that it may have at least a more complete selection of deleted scenes even if the movie remains the same. Also, of course, there's the 3 Disc Region 2 version. Anyone know which is the best and if the Green Cover if worth buying?

I just bought the "Green" version you refer to from I believe 2008 to replace my now lost 2002 version. I believe you may be mistaken: my version claims in its packaging it contains "original artwork". The artwork is a cardboard poster of what you refer to as the "green" version. It has been pasted loosely over the DVD box with the "giallo" cover you mention. The 2008 version has some nice extras i don't remember from the '02 version, but I was disappointed the newer edition doesn't contain the commentary by Craven and Sean S. Cunningham, though does contain commentary with the actors. I bought this replacement edition in honor of Wes and so am a little bummed that it's not there. Runtime is 84 minutes, which is said to be the full uncut version. I don't expect it to have any more or less deleted footage than the '02 edition.

Thanks for the help. I'm actually planning on getting a Region free player then I can get the UK special edition that has a ton of special features not available in the US including the alternative Krug and Company cut along with some other stuff I've been wanting.

I have been dying to see the Krug and Company cut ever since I heard of it. I wish someone would post a detailed comparison somewhere.

I remember reading something about the 2008 version having a script or something included. Can any of you tell me if a script was included in the special features or maybe something you can download from the DVD disc in your computer?

reply

I've seen excerpts from the script but I don't think it's anywhere in a complete form, possibly because Craven and Co. are a little embarrassed by how over-the-top it was.
The script featured graphic cannibalism and necrophilia as well as hard core sex.
