Availibility:

I am surprised that anybody knows about this series. It took the unacceptable amount of 33 years to dub the 105 episodes in English. And even then it was never aired on TV. Not even on Toonami, and not even on Adult Swim. The DVDs are out of print now and are very expensive.

They keep talking about making new movies. Without making it available on DVD again, and without making it available for download on iTunes?!

What needs to be done to make it available for purchase in an online download? A Petition? A license? Fees? Should I write to Tatsunoko directly?

Gatchaman is huge in Japan and that is all that truly matters to Tatsunoko. The live action movie is being made for a Japanese audience, and we'll be lucky to see it here at all. I am sure we'll get an eventual U.S. Bluray release. In any case, their goal is NOT for American audiences. Never has been regarding this franchise.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Hi all!

There will be a U.S. DVD and Blu-ray release for the series this October. Sentai Filmworks announced this release at Anime Boston over Memorial Day weekend. The sets will include both the original Gatchaman TV series and the Gatchaman OAVs in a single, large collection. It is likely that the TV series will make use of ADVs dub/sub, while the OAVs will use Urban Vision's dub/sub. The OAVs will also see a separate DVD-only release. It is unclear whether the Blu-ray set will be a true HD remastering of the original sources, as was done for the Gatchaman Blu-ray set in Japan, or if it will simply be an upconvert of the DVD material.

Sounds nice for those who don't have it already. Personally speaking, I won't be buying it as I just don't feel the need to repurchase the entire series all over again after already having done so in the past. Too much money UNLESS there are enough new features/supplements and such that make it worth the money.

It aired on TV, in some form, at least three times in the US, as: "Battle of the Plants" in the late 70s, "G-Force" in the mid-80s, and "G-Force" and in the mid-90s.

It's been on home video too. And YouTube now.
