Funny, but we really shouldn't be horsing around when it comes to offenders.

Woltz was not just a sexual predator, he was a kiddie fiddler as well. Losing the nag was bad, but it's too bad he didn't get his riding crop excised at some point in the story..

Yes, the novel and one of the extended cuts of the film included that bit.

Wait, what? I read the novel back in high school (1974 or so) but I don't recall what happened to Woltz. You mean they finished the bris?

No, I meant the part about him messing with the underage girl. That wasn't in the theatrical cut.

That part is some of what I remember from the novel (been a LOOOONG time!). I really should read it again.

I only read it last year. I really liked the backstory of how the Don was able to get Michael back into the U.S., which the film completely omitted.

The novel explains it, but I have forgotten the details. It did involve union workers and paying off Woltz's staff as I recall.
