The actor who "sells" McQueen his shotgun with double-ought buck is Bruce Bissonette. THE GETAWAY was filmed primarily in El Paso, and Bissonette was a popular radio and TV personality there. Interesting follow up to the movie: McQueen returned to El Paso in 1980 to receive a "last ditch" treatment for his advanced cancer in Juarez, Mexico -- just across the border. McQueen died during surgery at the University of Juarez Medical School. Bissonette, being a newsman, was given access into the school's morgue and shot video of his famous former co-star laying dead on a table. The footage was never broadcast on American television, but I have seen it, along with others who worked with Bissonette over the years in the media.
