Bonnie And Clyde

I havnt seen the film with Warren Beatty but I know the things they did. Does this film bear any resemblance to you of Bonnie And Clyde. I know McQueen and the hot actress arnt killing people for fun but they are on the run. From what I've read about Bonnie And Clyde this film makes me think about it alot.

Feel free to email me about any questions you have at [email protected]

I guess there are some surface-level similarities to these films, but I never watched either film and been reminded of anything in the other one.

That's true, the plots are night and day. While "Bonnie and Clyde" is the more acclaimed film I prefer "The Getaway" for the following reasons:

1) McQueen. He has a much stronger screen presence than Warren (I was the Tom Cruise of my day) Beatty. McQueen brought a huge amount of rage to the role of Doc McCoy. Beatty was good, but can't compare to McQueen. Even while playing a brutal character, McQueen manages to get the audience on his side.

2) "Bonnie and Clyde" has a cartoonish quality in some segements, and the characters of Bonnie and Clyde are too romanticized. The real B & C would kill you for a dollar, the movie shows them as nice people.

3) "The Getaway" is more realistic thanks to the strong direction of Sam Peckinpah. I like crime films to be harsh, not cartoonish or comedic.

But if you were to conudct a popularity poll, "Bonnie and Clyde" would probably win in a landslide.

It's hard not to acknowledge a similar theme. One big difference, The McCoys get away at the end (or seem to - we don't really know what the future held. And what's up with the message? that crime does pay?). Bonnie and Clyde didn't quite make it.

I may have been bifurcated, but I still have feelings.
