Sam Peckinpah being pissed about the editing...

I'm just curious if there is any chance he left notes or details of how he wanted the pacing of the movie to be? how he wanted edited?

much like Orson Welles and "Touch of Evil", which they were able to restore years later to the cut he wanted/was going for.

not that there is anything wrong (to me) with "the Getaway", I'm just curious if there is a chance in hell of a directors cut one day.

I'm curious, was Peckinpah upset over the editing? I've never heard about this, I thought this was one of his only films not really cut up by the MPAA.

My understanding is that "Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia" is the only film he was allowed to film and edit exactly as he wished. Supposedly Steve McQueen. as well as the producers, had significant input in the editing of "the Getaway."

Are you kidding me. The Wild Bunch is great and I like Cross of Iron no matter what other people say. To bad his talent got washed away with a ton of drug abuse.

Evidently, there is (or was) a director's cut out there - somewhere - with a different musical score. I read that Al Lettieri (Rudy) was very upset with McQueen's edit cause he had some great scenes cut.. will we ever see it? It's bound to be in someone's trunk.. somewhere...

It's really surprising that McQueen got along with Peckinpah through 3 movies. I mean those two egos clashing on the same set is a volatile mix, especially if Peckinpah didnt have final cut.
