Beynons brother rode in a chauffer-driven Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special.
In the end, they drove a Cadillac Eldorado Convertible.
Doc and Carol was driven by the Slim Pickens character in an old Chevrolet pick-up truck.
Yes, there were many Fords, an it is highly probable that the film was sponsored by Ford, but there were many other cars as well.
The new design of the IMDb site sucks big time. Bring back the old design, now!
Knowing how haphazardly he worked and how controversial he was, I'd suggest that maybe Ford or any other company may not be overly keen on having their brand identified with Sam Peckinpah. I know that's unlikely, but it's a possibility...
It's also true that many actors have used their own possessions in flicks, especially ones with low budgets. Whilst it's true that Ford could have invested in The Getaway, it's just as feasible that the manufacturer's dominant presence was coincidental and that in getting together the vehicles it just turned out that most of them turned out to be Fords.
It's a film about trying to drive away set in capitalist America; you can't escape branded automobiles...
Thinking about this, seeing as McQueen was so strongly associated with motoring, did he actively endorse any manufacturers back in the day? That would also possibly explain the prominent presence of Ford cars here.

shareDO THEY DROVE FORD IN THIS MOVIE
shareI practically never pay attention to car brands. I remember seeing Chevrolet at some point (just finished the movie 30 min ago). I did notice Coca-Cola here and there all the time, however.

You probably watched this film on AMC. Watch the movie on TCM. That channel doesn't have commercials
