I Felt Sorry For Harold

Anybody feel sorry for Harold (Sally Struther's husband)? I kinda did.

Same kind of thread on the remake board if you're interested...

But yeah what he goes through is horrible. In both cases he sees his wife at first agreeing with Rudy, then start to openly flirt with him, physically play with him in the car while he's forced to drive them around, in the remake he's made to wet himself because Rudy won't let him stop to relieve himself. Then they get a hotel and he has to watch his wife willingly be Rudy's plaything.

It would suck in any situation but it's made worse by the fact that the wife is a hot little sexpot with a sensuous body that any man would want and so far Harold has kind of hidden her away from other men so he figured he would never lose her. Then in one day he goes through all his worst fears and ends up being so humiliated that he kills himself.

If I had to pick the worst of the two I'd pick the remake. In that situation Harold is forced to wet himself but at the same time Rudy shows anger towards Fran so maybe Harold thinks the flirting is over. Then the next scene he's tied up in the bathroom and hears the moaning from the room, he shuffles over and sees his wife wildly riding Rudy in bed and as soon as they see him she laughs and Rudy shuts the door on him. No respect for Harold at all.

So here's a hot babe who marries a nice man who won't ever cheat on her. Has a nice business in a nice safe, beautiful area to raise a family.
I guess it would have been best if the hot babe never married this nice guy and be like every hot babe and stick being abused by the bad boys.
