OK picture despite Peckinpah excesses/flaws (spoilers)
Certain inconsistencies don't add up in the film. When Rudy and Sally Struthers go to hotel door where McQueen and McGraw are staying, Ali says to wait, because my husband is in the shower.
Knowing what we know about Rudy, he would have burst into the room immediately, kicking door down, to get the drop on McQueen. Shortly thereafter, when McQueen plugs Rudy on the fire escape, he shoots him once. Considering that he shot Rudy several times earlier after the bank job, leaving him for dead, yet he was still alive and came after him, McQueen would certainly have plugged Rudy several more times on the fire escape, just to be sure. It did not make sense.
However, as has been pointed out else where, Peckinpah was the world's laziest director (and greatest misogynist), and was not about to be meticulous about anything.
