Peppermint Patty

Why does she always have to pee on everyone's parade? She forces herself on Charlie Brown then gripes about the dinner? Was she aware that it was largely prepared and set up by a beagle and a canary? I personally would have been honored to sit at that table.

Another thought on Snoopy. This is one talented dog. He has the organizational skills of a high caliber meeting planner and can throw together a meal on a shoestring. He's also a helluva shortstop. I'm a huge Snoopy guy. Woodstock's no slouch either...

reply

I love how he plays ping-pong as shown in the Thanksgiving Special!!

What are the purposes of signatures!!..

reply

I thought she was rather rude to Charlie Brown, not letting him get a word in on the phone, inviting herself, Marcie and Franklin over to his place and complaining about the unusual dinner. She was also bossy and flirtatious and not a welcome house guest.

reply

She is kind of obnoxious in this one. But check out "Snoopy Come Home" - she actually tries to comfort Charlie Brown and get his mind off his troubles in that one, and is a pretty good friend.

reply

I think Pepperming Patty's [future Xena fan] belligerence was just plot convenience.
Patty does come to terms after Marcy gives her a tongue-lashing [grin]

I was a bit surprised when Peppermint Patty broke character and said "We're all invited to Charlie Brown's grandmother..." Shouldn't she have said "Chuck's grandmother" ?

reply

Maybe because she was talking about his grandmother, she felt she had to be more formal.

reply

Leave Patty alone. It was tough being a baby lesbian back then.

reply

Well, Marcy did ask her the question, "Did Charlie Brown invite you or did you invite yourself and us too?" PP realized that maybe she was wrong and that if she had given CB a chance he would've said, "No, don't come over since we're going out." And yeah, Snoopy is talented, but that was the joke.

reply

Peppermint Patty was a bit of a bitch in this show. She had no right to chew out Charlie Brown for the Thanksgiving meal he prepared for her and her friends.

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

reply

Well, she didn't expect to have this sort of dinner. She thought they were supposed to get a real Thanksgiving dinner. Marcie set her straight though.

reply

why is the voice of Peppermint Patty a boy in the Thanksgiving special?????????????????????????????

reply

She is sort of tomboyish, remember?

reply

Marcy was ALWAYS the voice of reason.

reply

"You know I'm too brusque and rough..."

Anyone else find this line a bit awkward? I mean, this is supposed to be a kid talking, right?

"What's really going on here, Steven? Is it drugs? Are you taking the pot?"

reply

Since when do the Peanuts kids talk like actual kids? When Lucy complains, in
the Christmas special, that she never gets what she really wants for Christmas--
real estate? When Linus and Charlie Brown, in one of the Sunday strips, discuss
the mental illness of classical composer Robert Schumann? None of them really
speak like your typical neighborhood kiddies.

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

reply

No the peanuts are actually suppose to be smarter than us lol. Is it me or did anyone notice that the weather looks warm on this cartoon special? I dont know many thanksgivings where people hang outside w/o coats lol. Gonna be 45 in NY this thursday YAY!

reply

Maybe the specials were also made for adults so they used adult references. Bugs Bunny used to do the same thing.

If not, it would fit a month later with Christmas and those popcorn balls.
