Did anybody else thing it was wierd that only after the dinner of buttered toast, jelly beans, pretzels & popcorn. Pepermint Patty complaining. after the kids left for grandmas. Snoopy & Woodstock cooked the turkey ?!?! Way to think for youself Snoop !! :-)

reply

Well that's Snoppy he has his own way of thinking!

The thing that gets me is the idea that Woodstock would eat any kind of bird.

I think it was supposed to be a surprise to the audience that he had a real Thanksgiving dinner for him and Woodstock. Maybe he also felt that there wouldn't be enough for all of them.

reply

I don't recall Charlie or Linus asking Snoopy "By the way, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?" They just asked him to start setting up the table and chairs, help cook and serve the meal. If they asked him, I'm sure Snoopy would have shared his meal.
BTW, I DO think that Woodstock eating turkey seemed a bit cannibalistic. :-)
Can we now move on?
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

reply

They don't. They assume since he is a dog he isn't important.

I wouldn't eat a meal prepared by a dog.

A 'fried turkey' is not a meal, it's a fleshy corpse of a murdered, innocent animal.

Also.. a bird eating another bird? Isn't that cannibalism?? How can Woodstock be OK with that? It's like going to your friend's house and them serving you freshly fried babies or their grandma's boob casserole straight from the oven. Would you NOT be freaked out?

reply

Do you think Snoopy washed his paws before he handled the food?

reply

he was in a rush: purell paw sanitizer.

I was going to start this topic if a thread didn't already exist. At a certain point I realized that Peanuts specials and feature films (especially) depend on suspending logic (even accepting that a dog and bird can do everything people can do). Almost every one leave you wondering, "Why didn't they just...?" There's probably already such a topic on the message board for every Peanuts special and movie. And the responses are usually along the lines of, "Then there wouldn't have been much story."

That being said, maybe it was meant to be a punchline. I always love the scenes with Snoopy and Woodstock happy together, sharing.
