Boring! Just end the damned thing after 30 minutes, rather than trying to stretch it out by adding one of the failed 1980s specials.

shareThe only reason ABC pairs This Is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers with A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is so they can stretch the uncut Thanksgiving special to a 33-minute slot (more commercials), and pad out the remaining hour with a throwaway special. They also do this with A Charlie Brown Christmas (usually pairing it with Charlie Brown Christmas Tales or a Prep & Landing short), but not with It's the Great Pumpkin, which is why that special is often hacked to ribbons on ABC.
It's sad that what once took CBS less than 30 minutes now takes ABC 33. Not that I think CBS would do any better if they still had the rights to the Peanuts specials.

My 6yr olds were glued to the TV during the Pilgram episode (more so than during the original Thanksgiving episode). They had learned about it at school this week and were super excited to see what they learned as a cartoon. Go figure!
