Oh come on, get over it. I know very few (if any) films where there's absolutely no adultery, or people lying, stealing or killing. Remember, when it's in the theatre it's the film, when it's in church it's the sermon.
I think it's so touching to the fact that Wendall was so against adultery when he first found out about his father; only for him to then suddenly realise just how easy it is to actually fall in love with another woman other than his wife and obviously do the same thing that his father did (*and* in beautiful romantic Italy). I know a lot of people on here fail to see why he would have the affair, but then it was obviously because he actually liked her; it wasn't just an one-off thing while on holiday.
Granted, at the end of the day, it is adultery on Wendall's wife but I don't know....it's still a beautiful love story. It's hard to explain but I know I'm not the only one here who thinks this.
