Ischia heliport

I think that it is the heliport of Capri - at least the one they had in the early 70ies! - Always has been the island of the rich and famous...

I was there as a student observer when the heliport and many other scenes in "Avanti!" were filmed. Although some of Avanti's exterior scenes were filmed on Ischia, other scenes were shot in Sorrento (exteriors of the hotel), at the Safa Palatino studios in Rome (interior sets of the hotel and the morgue) and on the island of Capri. The heliport was on Capri. By the way, everyone on the Avanti set was very kind, and Mr. Wilder was hilarious. I only saw him lose his temper once (a shot was not set up when he thought it should be ready), and he immediately turned his anger into a joke. He and Lemmon liked to reminisce about Marilyn Monroe and the difficulty of shooting with her. My favorite Wilderism (and apparently one of his, as he quoted it often): After the premier of "Sunset Boulevard," MGM titan Louis B. Mayer said Wildedr should be deported and never allowed to make another movie. Wilder walked up to him, said loudly, "Mr. Louis B. Mayer, why don't you go *beep* in your hat?" and walked away.

It's at the Southwestern tip of Capri island. At the end of Strada Faro Di Carena, just before the lighthouse. I don't think it was an official heliport, but a parking.
