If they were to remake this movie...

Who do you think would play Yaphet Kotto's character? I feel like Al Pacino would be awesome in Anthony Quinn's role but I can't really think of anybody as young and talented as Kotto was that could play the role as well.

Yeah the acting pool for younger generations is drying up. Most of the actors that get roles are rappers. Nothing against it except that nobody is learning the craft anymore.

There are a few good young actors though. I would say Derek Luke is a good candidate.

Honestly though. I would just prefer this film not to be remade. I think the thing for me is that it captures the time period so well. It's one of those things that can't be recreated imo. If it would be remade now then it would be treated as a period piece.

I've thought about this before, and I think Don Cheadle could do the part justice. True, he's not as young as Yaphet Kotto appears, but young enough to juxtapose against a grizzled old veteran.

Mel Gibson would be perfect to replace Anthony Quinn, but Kotto is much tougher because there are too many rap stars stealing roles from actual actors. Don Cheadle is a fine actor, but he doesn't have look of innocence and purity Kotto pulled off so well. Cheadle would work as Doc Johnson or one of the thieves.

Don Cheadle would be great as Lt. Pope. Cheadle has played a strait laced cop before and can pull it off because he's a great actor.
