Actor playing John Dickinson reminded me of Phil Hartman!

Never noticed this before (been a while since I've seen this film), but the actor playing "bad guy" John Dickinson (Donald Madden) totally reminded me of the late Phil Hartman! Almost to the point that I thought it was him (even though I knew he wouldn't be old enough in 1972) His mannerisms and speech really sound like Phil.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed or thought this!

Well, now that you mention it,
John Dickinson reminds me of the late Phil Hartman too!
Phil Hartman was capable of funny/serious roles.
Imagaine the hilarious
possibilities if a parody of this film
had become a sketch on Satruday Night Live.
Phil Hartman would have made a WONDERFUL John
Dickinson in waistcoat, wig and all!

reply

I have thought that many times over the years! I thought I was the only one. Definitely whenever Phil played a politician or a slick, oily businessman.

reply

You are correct. He does make a person think of Phil Hartmen. I have thought that since I first saw the film after Hartman made a name for himself.

Hello! Any other Dickinson/Hartman comments?

reply

The same here, now that you mention it, I do see similarities to Phil Hartman. That's pretty neat. :)

reply

Not really to me. He reminds me of William Russ who ironically played the dad on boy Meets World alongside William Daniels (a.k.a. Mr. Feeny/John Adams).

reply

YES! William Russ was who I thought of, as well!

reply

He always reminded me of Roger Moore....

reply

Precisely.

Kelsey Grammer as Frasier...

Every time I watch the film, and hear Madden's voice, I think that it 'is' him...
(it would be interesting to see Grammer in the same costume with a 'period wig' on, to see just how much he would've been able to fill the role).
