Steve Jobs movie

No this isn't OT...

I was watching the trailer for this movie on youtube... the movie stole a line from 1776!

Jobs is cussing out a co worker saying"You had three weeks to get it done... the universe was created in a third of that time!"

The other guy answers:

"Some day you have to tell me how you did it."

How sad, that you were not born in my time, nor I, in yours.

Yup. Noticed that and fel uncomfortable. Aaron sorkin is probably the most talented screenwriter, I'm wondering if he knows that line was in this film.

Aaron Sorkin is a hack. A truly talented screenwriter doesn't look for adaptions. Best Adapted Screenplay is a shill handout. Why not go ahead and divide up some of other categories? Best Performance in an Original Role.

I'm sure he knowingly stole the line.

Sometimes writers do this as an homage, kind of a hidden tribute to some other movie they really love.

There's a big one in the HBO miniseries "John Adams". At one point their daughter is being treated for breast cancer and John and Abigail are waiting outside and John is nervously pacing.

Abigail turns to him and says "For God's Sake, John, sit down!"

I think the odds this wasn't a direct lift for "1776" are pretty small. She did everything but sing the line!

I think a sentence or two is understandable, it's when it grows to entire scenes being played as if they are unique work then it's just plain old plagiarism.
