Battle Circus with Humphrey Bogart - The Original M*A*S*H

This 1953 film about a MASH unit is definitely recommended for any MASH fan. The love story is sappy but the movie gives a more realistic account of what it was like to be in such a unit.

Since the film was made in 1953, there are definitely no anachronisms

Just saw this on Watch TCM and agree with you both. On the one hand, yay Bogie (you may guess from my avatar that I'm a Bogart fan). On the other hand, there was no chemistry between him and June Allyson. The love story was sappy. I thought Keenan Wynn was pretty good.

I liked seeing period-appropriate hairstyles on both the men and woman, and appropriate facial hair on the men, no 1970s hippie mustache like BJ's. Also, the heavy smoking was realistic.

Interesting note -- Philip Ahn, who played the prisoner with the grenade in the movie, was on the TV show three times.
