Best Klinger 'Escape' Plot?

He had a few good ones but I like the one where the patient said he was a lawyer and could legally get Klinger out of the Army. Of course, he turns out to be a fraud.

I liked the raft in "Dear Peggy". The raft knocked Potter and Radar on the ground, virtually filling the entire office with said raft.

Hilarious.

I liked the one where he claimed he had 19 children to support and tried to show pictures of them to Col. Potter, only to find one of them was Potter's own grandson.

A couple that to the list are the fur coat in the heat for 24 hours and someone put gasoline in my gasoline. Honorable mention to the one where Henry pulls put the list of times his family has "died"

The hang gliding incident

reply

Where Klinger claims to have been hit by a chopper blade and starts speaking Arabic. This scene has been cut for years in syndication but saw it on the DVD.

reply

Don't forget the hang glider one where he looks like a big hairy bird with fuzzy pink feet! That one was hilarious I thought.

This one and "half the family dying, the other half pregnant"

Half of the family dead, half of the family pregnant.😄

The one where a patient takes a hostage and demands to be sent home to the states. Klinger 'gallantly' offers to be replaced as the hostage (don't remember who it was first. Winchester, I think).

When everything is set with the hostage terms, the patient is so sick he can barely stand. Klinger does his best to get him on his feet, and makes him point his gun at him, and they start walking towards the exit, Klinger in front with his hands in the air.

In the next shot Klinger comes out with his hands in the air looking all scared, saying something like "Don't shoot! Back off, guys, he's crazy as hell!", but there is no one behind him. The patient has collapsed inside... :^D

Gotta love Klinger.

Yup it was Charles.

That was one of John Ritter's early roles. I think he played a lieutenant who didn't want to go back to the front.

reply

I think that's right! John Ritter played that young, crazy guy that took a hostage just to get home. He did a mighty fine performance as well. Very believable, if I remember it correctly. One of the earliest 'serious' episodes until they became too common later on.

Not Ritter in that episode. Ritter's character took Burns hostage in the shower and was thwarted by McIntyre, I believe.

reply

Ah, thanks for the clarification. My memory failed me.

Charles Frank is the guy's name who took Winchester hostage.

I watched an old episode of "Murder She Wrote" last weekend that had Charles Frank, William Christopher, and that woman who played the nurse who cried all the time in "Images" (she was the murder victim). In this episode, Charles Frank was once again holding someone at gunpoint. That must have been his signature as an actor :)

He was holding one of the workers at the inn at gunpoint because his wife was fooling around with him.

The Young and the Restless, from season 7. Klinger pretends he's back in Toledo, wears civilian clothing, and calls Colonel Potter "Mister" Potter.

reply

All the times he wore a dress.

Metallica and Iron Maiden fan who is also a Brony.

Love the one where Klinger tried to convince Potter his brother had died in a factory explosion. Potter challenges him, saying the brother never existed & so couldn't have died.

Potter: "Klinger! You gotta live before you die!"

Klinger: (phoney sobbing) "Oh, you said a mouthful, sir!"

Classic Maxwell Q!!
