Your thoughts on Guerilla My Dreams

Do you think Lt. Park was right in performing his duty? The woman proved she was dangerous when she pulled the IV tube out of the wounded soldier's arm and her speech at the end. I don't approve of torture but we only have the story Sully heard second hand so we don't know if Park was actually going to do it.
So I would say Park's method was wrong but he was right in saying that the guerilla was dangerous.

Park had some issues, but Hawkeye and BJ were the most wrong in this episode. I need to watch that one again. They're terrible in this episode.

The part I disliked the most was when Hawk and B.J. are trying to help her walk again in the post op ward. They seem like they are just tickled pink every time she takes a step as if they're going to be given any thanks by her for doing so. She keeps pulling away and growling out them the whole time. If she had a knife she would have plunged it in both their bellies given the chance and all they do is cheer her on. At the end they know how she feels about Americans and them in general yet they still get pissed at Park for taking HIS North Korean prisoner away from them. They might not have had to like it but they should have accepted it. But that's Hawkeye and his sidekick Beej. Trying to change their little part of the war to benefit themselves.

This episode aired in October 1979 before the Iran Hostage crisis. Watching it now in 2016 it seems terribly dated. The Iran Hostage situation showed Americans that there were people out there who hated America no matter what. Put that with decades of terrorist attacks on Americans and fighting insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan Hawkeye and BJ seem so naive. They just don't get that the guerilla woman hates everything the represent.

I think the episode would have been better if the woman had shot Someone and had to be killed by Park.

It's too bad that enemy guerrilla woman didn't kill Hawkeye for being such a annoying liberal douche. Now that would have been a more satisfying end to the series!

That might have happened had MASH been made a decade or more later with a different set of production values. Quality reigning over all else and no actors that were untouchables in terms of stories or plot lines. I would have liked to have seen Pierce go through a court martial and subsequent imprisonment. Short of that have Pierce demoted and reassigned.

While I understand the doctors' fear of seeing the guerilla woman killed by what they consider to be a fanatical soldier, their inability to see the danger she represented is chilling, to say the least, much like liberals today who fail to see the potential danger represented by Middle Eastern immigrants being allowed into European countries and America today.

What comes to mind first for me is that is the first time I ever heard the words, "You son of a bitch" on TV which a very angry Hawk says to Park.

I wonder if that was the first time on TV it was ever said.

Let me know if I'm on your ignore list.
Thanx!
