Should Frank Have Been C.O. For At Least A Few More Episodes in Season 4

They could have had Frank as Commanding Officer for 4 or 5 episodes at the beginning of Season 4 and then have Potter come in. It would have made the Colonel seem like a breath of fresh air.

Frank: Two: The movie - In future, those attending will stand at attention when I arrive and again when I leave.

Mulcahy: Sir? May I pose a hypothetical question?

Uh, yes, Father.

Suppose you leave in the middle of the picture?

Uh, well, we're working on that. We'll let you know by the end of the week...

I think they could have done a whole season on it.

That would have been great.

Yes, they rushed Col. Potter in much too quickly.

The writers didn't seem "interested" in doing much with Frank's character.
This despite the fact that Linville was well-liked on the set.
He and Burghoff were close friends.

They probably could have if they made Frank a more well rounded character, the problem was no one at all liked him.

Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

They had made changes to Margaret's character and Winchester, too. I don't think it would have been too hard to change Frank a bit.

They could have for sure. To have Frank in charge for longer Frank would need a proper ally/friend above him (& maybe one under him) who smooths the path for him so not even Hawk and Co can over ride him so easily.

They would also would need to give make him competent in something, perhaps show him to be a really good manager in some respect.

Of all the characters on the show Frank Burns seemed to be relegated to stooge and no one seemed to care about making him any different. It was like even the writers and producers hated him.
