Caricatures on DVD set-up pages

Each DVD set-up page for this show typically has stylized sketches of one or two characters. The faces are generally quite true to each character, somehow managing to capture the essence of a face with just a few strokes.

As is common with caricatures, however, other body parts are downplayed. For, I think, the first couple of seasons, the feet were often included, but oddly enough they all seemed to be wearing the same style of shoes (a plain black oxford, near as I recall), regardless of what else they were wearing. After that, they simply stopped showing anything below their knees. Either that portion of their anatomy was below the bottom of the TV screen, or else they were standing in what appeared to be a shallow manhole.

We're watching season 4 now, and I'm also noticing that their hands generally have no detail. Either they're just blobs at the ends of the arms, or they're hidden inside pockets. I'm reminded of a Peanuts cartoon where "psychiatrist" Lucy explains that Linus (I think?) always draws people with their hands behind their backs because "you yourself lack confidence." He retorts that it's actually because "I myself can't draw hands very well."

In this case, though, they may simply not want to draw attention away from the faces.
