that building

I loved this show when it came out in the 70's, everytime I would go to chicago I would go by 'that building' and say 'thats the building that bob works in'!!!

Have you heard about this sculpture of "Bob" in Chicago? According to this post, it is outside the Wrigley Building ("that building"). I have visited Chicago since it was placed in 2004, but didn't happen to pass by that particular block.

There is also a similar sculpture of "Mary Richards" throwing up her hat at the Nicollet Mall, outside of Dayton's (now Macy's) in downtown Minneapolis.

yes there is a bronze sculpture and bob in his greatness sat on the chair and said "its not as comfortable as it looks" BTW its the building just north of the wrigley building.its your typical early 60's box modern design.

It slipped my mind that it was the boxy glass-sheathed building next to the Wrigley Building. I knew that, but had somehow forgotten.

I hope they included a statue of Babushka lady with horn rimmed glasses watching the Mary Richards statue toss up her hat.

reply

No, but she and Mary later met and was Mary's special guest on stage for one of her shows in Minneapolis.

The Newhart statue is on the Navy Pier, almost at the far end, to your right as you're headed out there.

I've been there, but before the statue was (likewise the Mary statue in Mpls.)

My former fiance's mother would always say that's the building they used to live in. Every damned week at the beginning of the show.
