Anyone else remember the CBS Saturday night line up as fondly as I do ?

All in the Family , The Jeffersons, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Bob Newhart Show & Carol Burnett Show? By 1978 it was all gone.
Awesome way for a nice night at home !

It was a great lineup and it made not having a date OK!

I remember! Classic TV! Didn't get any better than that.

Actually IT DID get better because by 1975 - we had the NEW Saturday Night Live on at 11:30 PM!!!!!!

I recall the lineup for Saturday Night in early 1970's being All In The Family, MASH, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show and The Carol Burnette Show. CBS dominated Saturday's back then. Now, every network uses Saturday to burn off shows waiting to die. Thank God for Antenna TV, Me TV, and a handful of other retro channels that managed to air something interesting.

I watched all of those shows except for MASH. These days I mostly watch MeTV, GetTV, Cozi, and Buzzr, and I would also watch the other nostalgia channels if my cable company offered them.

If I may be permitted a slight deviation here from CBS - for me, it was Emergency! (on NBC starting at 7pm Central time) then over to CBS for Mary Tyler Moore and Bob Newhart. 9pm (central) was my usual bedtime during the school year but I did get to stay up during the summer to watch Carol Burnett. Yes, 1978 was a sad time for me too with regard to Saturday night TV; things were just never quite the same afterwards. Suzanne Pleshette's well-modulated alto voice was just sooo sexy, not to mention how absolutely beautiful she was!!! I didn't get to liking The Jeffersons and All in the Family until much later. Almost 50 years later, I've found that - for me at least - the Bob Newhart Show has aged very well; I still find myself laughing at the gags no matter how many times I've seen a given episode. This I haven 't found to be the case so much with MTM, I regret to say. I still find myself longing for that time and place every now and then.
