BTTF connection?! spoiler possibly...

not sure if this has been mentioned before, but...

In Back To The Future,
marty has to hit the cable when the lightning strikes at 10:04

Kowalski impacts the bulldozer at 10:04

what are the odds of that?
two cars flooring it & meeting their destiny at the same time...

perhaps the director of bttf was tipping his hat to VP cos
it was influential to him in his youth...

you guys know anything about this?

This sounds oddly familiar for some reason, I will watch BttF with the commentary and see if anything is said about it. Nice catch, though. And it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case because they do pay homage to their favorite films a LOT in BttF.

That is an interesting observation that I have never noticed myself, even though I am a die-hard fan of both movies. Both scenes are similar too since both Marty and Kowalski have the gas to the floorboard driving straight to a target.

Definitely a connection.

In BTTF 3, while Marty drives towards the desert (in the drive-in scene) Doc yells "Vaya con Dios".

In VP, while Kowalski drives towards the desert, the old man yells the same thing.

I noticed this the first time I watched this movie! I figured BTTF III had done it as an homage to Vanishing Point.

Now, the whole 10:04... nice point! Makes me not feel sad about Kowalski anymore. He was just going back to the future! People didn't know it yet though.

In BTTF III, when Marty goes back to 1885, they rename the ravine "Eastwood Ravine" because they think he died there. Same for Kowalski?

cheers for all the comments guys...

hey phlbirchall, wot calculation was used to figure out the odds? haha ;)

I'd say it's based on the finite amounts of time in a day. The Corellian in me says it's a pointless stat though :P

Great catch about 10:04 OP, you get 5599 nerd points :)

Can you imagine if Doc used a 1970 Challenger as the time machine instead of a Delorean? Having that with the hover conversion and flying in the air would have been epic!
