How the British saved VP from Oblivion
Came across a behind the scenes interview with the star Barry Newman and stunt coordinator Carey Loftin, in which they give some great insights into the making and meaning of this cult 70's classic.
Here is a short extract telling how British audience's saved the film from oblivion.....
"20th Century Fox had no faith in the movie" Newman recalled. therefore they dumped the film in nieghborhood theaters as a multiple release, and it was out of the theaters in less than two weeks." Vanishing Point was then taken to London, where it became the biggest critical and box office hit of the decade in Britain. Because of the immense popularity of Vanishing Point in Britian, it became a "back door classic" and returned to American Theaters on a double bill with "The French Connection".

I was one small part of that British audience back in the early 70's, and for me it was love at first sight of that Challenger, so much so that in the 80's I managed to get one (a White one too !!), it was the worst handling car I've ever driven, but I loved it more than any car I've owned.
