Perfect Drive-In Movie

I just watched VP on dvd. I originally saw it back in 1976 with my girlfriend at a drive-in with a double bill of Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. I doubt there has been a better double feature for a drive-in.

I thought something paired with Easy Rider or American Graffiti might work but those films can be enjoyed in a movie theater without your girlfriend snuggled in your arms. And with all cars having bucket seats they're not exactly conducive to snuggling.

One of the great things about being a teenager in the 60's and 70's is that there were a lot of drive-ins around for inexpensive date nights. I feel sorry for kids today that never get to go to a drive-in to see these movies which would spend about 2 minutes at a first run theater chain.

My second favorite drive-in double feature was The Taking of Pelham 123 (the original) and The Seven-Ups with Roy Scheider. Does anyone remember seeing a better double feature at the drive-in?

i once saw a pretty good "triple" feature at a drive-in in orange ca. in '77. Groove Tube, Kentucky Fried Movie and Tunnel Vision.

Something about car movies at a drive in.
I remember seeing Smokey and the bandit and Gator and White lightning at drive in's.
We have 2 still operating in the San Diego area and try to go as often as possible.
We can have a beer and something to eat and talk during the movie without bothering anyone

Then there was the ones that made no sense Like "Phantasm and Easy Rider" when Phantasm came out and "it's alive" along with "dirty Mary Crazy Larry"
And my personal favorite "HEAVY METAL" / "ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST"

If you figure the logic on that double bill, please let me know!!
