DVD won't start unless--

--you switch from DVD to VCR and back again, then press "Play".

I have had similar things happen on a few other DVD's. Why does this happen? Is this a sign of a defect, or are some DVD's just naturally like that? (It's on Kino, and the other Kino DVD that I have works without my having to fiddle with the buttons much.)

I've just ordered a copy off Amazon, so I'll let you know if mine works. Are there many/any extras on the DVD? Thanks in advance.

reply

I had no problems with the DVD starting, but there are some other problems:

1.) The sound is muffled AND out of sync.

2.) The transfer is not good. Looks OK on a little TV but blurry on a big one.

It's very disappointing that Kino has released such a shoddy product for a major, classic film like this one. Especially at the 29.99 list price (I borrowed it from the library, thank Zeus).

I'm referring to the edition with the UPC 3832903762.

There's a Spanish edition that came after the Kino one. Has anyone checked it out? For what I read I won't be buying the kino one then.

reply

The film is available in English on YouTube with Greek subtitles.
