Who's the boy in the opening sequence?

In the controversial opening sequence where the woman seduces the young boy into having sex with her, who is the boy? I know it's Melvin's son, but many sources stated it was Mario, then Imdb lists Max as "Young Sweetback". Mario is listed as "kid". I did see a face during the scene where the street kids offer the cops a car wash then set their car on fire that looked like Mario, but not sure. I know Mario would've been 12-13 at the time, but I can't find any info on Max. The scene is obviously still somewhat cringe inducing and even Melvin admits its the most "infamous" scene of the film.

Max is obviously Mario Van Peebles. He has said that is was him, and so has Melvin Van Peebles said that it was him. It pretty obvious, and remarkebly easy to figure out.

That was also Mario and his sister Megan in the scene before they blew up the police car. They offered to wash the police car but poured gasoline on it instead. Megan was the girl with the big red afro

Max is Mario's brother-and they are BOTH in the movie.

Imdb has made a correction and it now lists Mario as both, young sweetback/kid.

For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: 'It might have been!

I am currently taking a Independent film class at Arizona State University. We just viewed this film and my teacher said that she personally knows Melvin and Mario. And she confirmed that the boy in the beginning of the film having sex with the women was in fact Melvin's son.

Mario made a movie about it called Baadasssss a few years ago.
