Think so? For the early 70`s it looked real enough to me lol, but yeah, in this day and age, it doesnt look believable, but since he got an STD i wondered why they had actually had sex w/o protection, but then this film wasnt made to promote safe sex obviously, lol.
shareHIV and AIDS were still about a decade away from emerging, so "safe sex" was not nearly as much of a buzz-term back then. Yes, other STDs were obviously out there, but there was not the same sense of fatalism about the subject.
That said, just because something is stated in the IMDb's trivia sections does not make it true.
Van Peebles stated this fact himself in his short autobiographical film The Real Deal...The Way It Was/Is. We have to take him at his word.
