My review on Murmur of the Heart

I have a little review I wrote on Murmur of the Heart. The review is at http://videovampire.wordpress.com/2008/08/23/murmur-of-the-heart/, and my blog is http://videovampire.wordpress.com/. Please visit if interested. I'm trying to get a readership of more than the 2 1/2 current readers (me, my wife, and our terrier, who doesn't really read but watches me write). Thanks and be well!

You've got one important thing right, Laurent (Renzino) is a complex character, and I've always thought a difficult acting role well done. Your critique emphasizes the characters and relationships, but there was a lot that "happened" in the movie; it wasn't just a talkie-relationship film. There was an odyssey of places and events through which the character is developed for us.

Looks like I'm starting to weave my own little film review points into a critique of your review. But I will reiterate that you've appropriately represented the complexity of the character.

Proofreading: It's "bear witness".

Your review of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly sums it up the way I remember it, but I could never have put it into words that well.
