I'm a huge fan of the avengers and recently wrote to Brian Clemens. He recommended this film as one of his best, but i have been unable to track a copy down. Simply put; is it any good?

i know that this is a little late, but I think that the movie was a welcome relief from all the overtly gory and violent movies out there. I liked how unpredictable it was.

By the way, was the killer the one who kept slamming the doors, especially the cellar door when Sarah came home? Sometimes the killer seems to be in another location one second, then at the house the next

Love this film, one of my favorite films with Mia Farrow. 

The atmosphere is wonderfully dark and borderline nihilistic, and its got some great cinematography, but the story loses steam in the second half. Still, the creepy moments were striking enough that I could see myself giving it another try sometime.

Watched this on TV with my mom in 1972 and we loved the eerie suspenseful atmosphere that pervades throughout the film.
Early 70s horror movies captured the dread in a unique way
