Last House on the Left 2?
I know it's just a cash-in title and not the official one, but 'Last House on the Left 2'? On a film which actually predates Last House on the Left? That's just stupid...

This movie, like LAST HOUSE, played drive in's in the US into the early 80's. The LAST HOUSE 2 was a re title that AIP used for many of it's re issues. Not sure when that title was first used but it was a few years after 1972.
shareWhich other movie got Last House on the Left II as a reissue title? I couldn't find any info on this besides Bay of Blood.
shareThis has been done many times. The Zombie series on video has sequels which pre-date the original.

I prefer the original title REAZIONE A CATENA (CHAIN REACTION) to any of the English speaking varieties.
One should judge a man mainly from his depravities.Virtues can be faked.Depravities are real.Kinski
All of this is very common with Italian movies.
The Zombie series, the only official parts are Fulci's Zombie AKA Zombie 2, and Zombie 3. (I'm not sure if Zombie 4: After Death is, I believe the original title was After Death, and Zombie 4 was thrown on for marketing reasons).
Hell of the Living Dead sometimes uses the title Zombie 4 and even Zombie 5.
I know at least 3 movies that have the alternate title Zombie 3...
Buruial Ground
Zombie Holocaust (also goes uner the title Dr. Butcher M.D.)
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie.
Tbe latter actually came out about 5-years before Zombie 2. There might be more, but I'm not sure, but I have seen other movies with the Zombie title
Then there is the Demons series. Of course we have Bava's Demons and the official sequel Demons 2.
Black Demons, The Orge and The Church have used the title Demons 3. Though if not mistaken, The Church at one point was meant to be the 3rd Demons movie. It does have the same basic idea, but when L. Bava was out. I believe Argento, Soavi and Ferreni made some changes.
There are a couple of movies with the alternate title of Cannibal Holocaust 2 and Cannibal Ferox 2
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley, sometimes uses the name Cannibal Ferox 2, and Amozonia: The Catherine Miles Story uses Cannibal Holocaust 2.
I think prior to his death, Bruno Mettie made a flick that used the Cannibal Holocaust name as well.
So all this is very common with Italian horror movies.
The phone is dead. Do you hear that, Vitus? Even the phone is dead.
Shawn... This is the closest I've ever gotten to figuring out this Zombi mess...
these are Romero's originals
NOTLD 1968
Dawn 1978
Day 1985
Land 2005
Diary 2008
these are the remakes
NOTLD 1990
Dawn 2004
NOTLD 3-D
Day 2007
if you count the spinoffs and unauthorized sequels to Dawn, then you then have
Zombi was the 1978 Dawn of the Dead
Zombi 2 (1979, Lucio Fulci, aka Zombie)
Zombi 3 (1973, aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie)
Zombi 3 (1980, aka Burial Ground)
Zombi 3 (1972, aka Return of the Zombies)
Zombi 3 (1988, Lucio Fulci)
Zombi 4 (1988, aka After Death)
Zombi 4 (1973 aka Virgin Among the Living Dead)
Zombi 5 (1989, aka Killing Birds)
Zombi 5 (197?, aka Revenge in the House of Usher)
Zombi 6 (1982, aka Monster Hunter... which in turn is an actual sequel to Anthropophagus)
Hell of the Living Dead (aka Night of the Zombies) has been called Zombi 4 and Zombi 5 and that film even has an unofficial sequel called Night of the Zombies II (1981, Joel Reed, aka Night of the Zombies)
and of course, the unauthorized sequel to Day
Day of the Dead 2: Contagium
So if you really want to count all the unauthorized sequels, the list gets cluttered and you end up adding movies that predate Dawn.
Whats interesting is that despite all this alternate title BS, you don't have a movie that was originally Zombie.
I'm curious to see this flick.
sharethere is also Evil Dead 3 (not Sam Raimi's) and Evil Dead 4... Im not sure for the part 5...
There's also House 3 (italin movie not Horror ShoW!) and House 4 and 5... It's interesting that there is no House 1 or 2 ... It's possible that Italians tried to cash in with success of the American House 1 and 2 movies...
Italian movies can be sooo confusing sometimes ...

Mario Bava's A Bay of Blood was re-released as The Last House on the Left, Part II in an attempt to cash in on the success of The Last House on the Left, despite the fact that Bava's film was made before Craven's film.[9] In 2005, producer/writer/director David DeFalco directed the film Chaos, which directly borrows poster art from The Last House on the Left and featured the famous "it's only a movie" tagline, while it contained a similar plot. Chaos received wildly varying positive and negative reviews and was not a commercial success theatrically, though picked up a substantial DVD cult following. Hitch-Hike and The House on the Edge of the Park is similar to Last House on the Left, with David Hess playing a character very similar to Krug. David Hess considers The Last House on the Left, Hitch-Hike, and The House on the Edge of the Park to be a trilogy.
Remake
In August 2006, Rogue Pictures finalized a deal to remake The Last House on the Left with original writer and director Wes Craven as a producer. The company intended to preserve the storyline of the original film. Craven described his involvement with the remake: "I'm far enough removed from these films that the remakes are a little like having grandchildren. The story, about the painful side effects of revenge, is an evergreen. The headlines are full of people and nations taking revenge and getting caught up in endless cycles of violence."[10] Craven formed Midnight Pictures, a shingle of Rogue Pictures, to remake The Last House on the Left as its first project. Production was slated for early 2007.[11] Screenwriter Adam Alleca was hired to write the script for the remake. In May 2007, Rogue Pictures entered negotiations with director Dennis Iliadis to direct the film.[12]
Ok, so there was only one Last House on the Left II, and that's Bay of Blood.
David Hess considers The Last House on the Left, Hitch-Hike, and The House on the Edge of the Park to be a trilogy.
Trilogies don't have to share characters or storylines. Thematically connecting films are considered trilogies. Look at Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors trilogy or the Ingmar Bergman trilogy with Winter Light, The Silence, and Through a Glass Darkly.
The difference being those trilogies were the works of a single mind working out the themes. I agree Hitch-Hike, Last House, and House on the edge aren't trilogies just because David Hess plays a similar role.
The thing i pasted was from Wikipedia, forgot to note that.
I believe that Night Train Murders is supposed to be a sequel to, or at least occasionally billed as Last House on the Left 2. Or more precisely, New House on the Left.
