While the disappointing Blade in the Dark was my first Lamberto Bava film. Reazione a Catena (A.K.A Twitch of the Death Nerve) was my first Mario Bava, the father of Lamberto, film.
An elderly heiress is killed by her husband who wants control of her fortunes. What ensues is an all-out murder spree as relatives and friends attempt to reduce the inheritance playing field, complicated by some teenagers who decide to camp out in a dilapidated building on the estate.
Twitch of the Death Nerve is visually stunning. I Especially liked the typical 70's flower power colors. The kills are great due to the good gore although i had liked it if they were a bit more suspenceful. It's remarkable that there are two (great) kills which were almost exactly copied in the Friday the 13th films.
The acting for once was decent. Especially if you compare it to the acting of other movies with the same genre, country and year. I especially liked Luigi Pistilli (For a Few Dollars More). Luckily the dubbing was acceptable and not laughable like it is in many cases.
Unfortunately the plot was a bit confusing at times and because of that the plot twists don't work great. I also didn't like that there was more than one killer. The ending was, although very unrealistic, decent.
I'd say i's a decent 70's flick although it was a bit dated...
