Was the original audio really Italian? IMDb says English/Italian whatever that means, and I saw parts of the Italian version and the English version, and I can't tell which is dubbed, both lip syncs appear to be good. In some scenes it even appeard to me that the English version is synced better!
Also, the English audio in the dubbed (?) version doesn't match the English subtitles that accompany the Italian version, some dialogs are different or shorter etc.
Apparently this one was filmed both ways, with (most of) the actors speaking Italian for the Italian version and English for the English version; that's why they both seem to match their respective soundtracks so well. Both versions, technically, are dubbed, as no sound was recorded on location.

Good question actually! I'm not sure; I've only seen the English version myself. (Some newer DVD/Blu-ray editions include both versions, but not the one I have.) I think if you look for a review of the newest release including both, you'll be able to find someone's opinion about which works better.
