Anyone had some sympathy for Simon?

Well, he killed two (the husband and the blonde bitch) to revenge his mother, and killed the four teens (if he did it all, and not Ventura too) because they were really annoying and they hurted the silence and the peace of the bay. And that was a big mistake, little ones! :DDD
His reasons were different from the other killers, who were a nice Macbeth and Lady pair :P, and killed only for the inheritance. Also, from greed.

So I feel a little sympathy for Simon. :) Okay, he was not a good guy, but he's handsome, has a dark sense of humor and eats fish like Gollum :DDD (I'm SURE Andy Serkis had seen this movie!)
But he got too what he deserved... (Luigi, that wasn't nice! :DDD)

It's a pity that the actor, Claudio Volonté, ended so tragically in real life. :(

I understand what you're getting at. I watched the movie and I felt sympathy for what he was going through, but not for him personally nor who/what he was. One of the reasons was his calling the woman a whore and a bitch. She may have been that, but he didn't necessarily know that.

One thing I wonder is, well- I hope Ventura/Vincenzo (whatever his name was) killed the man who killed the Countess, because it would be a bit disturbing to think that Simon would watch his mother being killed just to catch the person who killed her.

I was rooting for him to survive and raise the kids lovingly lol, since he seemed to be the only one who actually wanted something for love not money, his mothers life, everyone else just wanted to be the heir. So yes, however when he killed the students he lost some points. They had nothing to do with it and Even tho they were in wrong place at the wrong time still was pretty messed up bc they were innocent.
