One good thing Omega Man did was expand on the whole new society and last of a dying bread part of the book I Am Legend. The remake with Will failed to do that.

Matthias pre-infection was a TV reporter and a commentator, and already had a rather dim view of the world because of what he had seen in the cold war struggle between the Soviets and Chinese, so naturally the disease amplified his feelings.
