If you weren't familiar with the movie, would you be scared if you were driving along one night and suddenly came upon a group of extremely pale, white-haired people wearing black hooded robes & sunglasses and carrying torches?

Of course, cruising through parts of inner cities after dark isn't going to be particularly healthy depending on your pigmentation, either.
