1st Interracial Kiss?
I heard somewhere that this movie features the first interracial kiss in the history of movies. Does anyone know if that is true?
shareFirst or not, as a 13 year old boy in the Upper Midwest, it had a big impact on me. I had hardly seen a black person in my life (I always thought maybe it was because they had more sense than to migrate into South Dakota winters). Anyway, we'd go to see anything with Chuck Heston, no questions asked. He was the stud of the big screen in that era. Seeing him getting it on, slowly and romantically, with a lovely black woman made me think, "Gee, nothing wrong with that". So, a staunch conservative who took a lot of criticism for his political views helped to educate an unaware teenager about ignoring skin color.
